OHCA Board To Meet In Tulsa

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Health Care Authority Board will hold its monthly meeting beginning at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Hyatt Regency conference center in Tulsa. The meeting will kick off the board’s annual retreat. Anyone who is interested in the state’s SoonerCare (Medicaid) and Insure Oklahoma programs is welcome to attend the meeting and talk with members of the OHCA board and staff.

The agency’s board will conduct a two-day strategic planning session Thursday and Friday, Aug. 25-26, with registration at 8 a.m. and sessions beginning both days at 8:30 a.m. These meetings are also open to the public.

Thursday’s agenda includes a review of the agency’s goals and highlights; a session looking at Oklahoma’s health care system through the past 20 years; a look at how the agency and our state has received national attention for our innovative use of technology; and Medicaid mandates from the Affordable Care Act which have been implemented.

After lunch on Thursday, sessions include a review of the mandates from the Affordable Care Act which are slated to be implemented; a look at the Oklahoma Health Information initiatives; and a session highlighting an effort to coordinate care for members who dually qualify for Medicare and Medicaid.

Friday’s sessions will focus on the agency’s advisory boards and committees, quality initiatives, care management efforts and savings realized due to efforts to manage the use of the emergency room and radiology services. A question and answer session and closing remarks will conclude Friday’s session.
